On March 14, 2022 Clarify Health announced its acquisition of Embedded Healthcare for an undisclosed amount.

Clarify Health Solutions is located in San Francisco, California and was founded in 2015. Just last year, in 2021, Clarify Health secured $115 million in series C funding to scale its self-service healthcare analytics cloud and business software.

Clarify Health provides the breakthrough technology and analytics platform to personalize and optimize patient care journeys. Their purpose-built solutions - developed by a world-class team of data scientists and engineers from the financial services industry, top clinical operations experts, and logistics specialists - are transforming healthcare processes and workflows. Clarify delivers actionable insights that enable physicians, health systems, payers, and life sciences organizations to deliver better care today and evolve for a value-based world.

Clarify Health Solutions have been sought out because the software platform enables interoperability for data in the healthcare industry. Data interoperability and analytics are two of the most influential pieces of technology today.

Embedded Healthcare is located in Washington, DC and was founded in 2019. Embedded Healthcare draws on years of evidence-based research studying how using behavioral economics to inform value-based care model design can inspire behavior change.

Embedded draws upon the latest behavioral economics research to help payers set up innovative payment models, such as capitation. Once in place, through their platform, they deliver targeted nudges and incentives to providers to make it easy for them to give the most effective and efficient care to their patients. Embedded Healthcare’s platform is a turnkey solution that does not require new investments in health IT or disruption of physician practice work flows, and works within an open network.

“Clarify and Embedded Healthcare complement each other in a way that will help the industry achieve higher quality healthcare,” said Keith Florance, President of Embedded Healthcare. “Clarify’s insights identify opportunities for value across the delivery system, and Embedded has created the incentive framework and behavioral nudges that drive change into the daily decisions of providers, regardless of what payment models they’re in today. Combined, we bring to market unique capabilities and analytics that will accelerate high-value clinical behavior, reframe a positive payer-provider relationship, and displace ineffective models.”

Clarify has made significant and strategic investments over the past year to establish its leadership in value-based care. In October of 2021, Clarify Health acquired Apervita’s value optimization business. The acquisition bolstered Clarify’s integrated analytics platform for end-to-end value-based contract design, payments reconciliation, clinical performance assessment, and reporting.

Now, with the acquisition of Embedded Healthcare, coupled with its industry-trusted provider performance insights, Clarify can drive engagement and behavior change to reduce costs, improve quality, and catalyze value-based transformation.

“We are excited to bring Embedded Healthcare’s tip-of-the-spear, proven solutions that improve the cost-efficiency of medical practice with Clarify’s vast data and analytics platform,” said Amol Navathe, MD, Ph.D. Co-founder of Embedded Healthcare. “This brings a comprehensive solution to payers to deliver better value for patients, physicians, and payers alike.”

The entire Embedded Healthcare team will merge with Clarify Health. A number of senior individuals will stay on as strategic advisors.
